Three underperforming, damaged roofs were replaced on a home in a semi rural location in Newcastle. The homeowners wanted to replace the old roofs and waterproof, insulate and protect their home for the future. They also wanted to make sure the new roofs looked aesthetically pleasing against the lovely old, original ridge tiles on the main house.
Roof Assured by Sika installer Mark Ginn, Direct Savings, specified and installed the Sikaplan D-15 RoofPro single ply membrane. Mark said: “The Sikaplan range of single ply membranes offers the perfect combination of high performance and good looks, which was perfect for this project.”
The 90m2 warm roof construction consisted of an air and vapour control membrane, thermal insulation and the Sikaplan membrane mechanically fixed on top of a timber structural deck. Warm roofs are generally considered as very effective for energy use reduction and mechanically fastened roofs are a popular choice for domestic roofing projects as they are cost effective and quick to install. An added benefit is that a mechnically fastened installation is not weather dependent, so projects can be completed without waiting for a good weather forecast!
The Sika RoofPro range of roof waterproofing technologies have been developed to appeal to homeowners but also to give installers a range of premium, low maintenance, flat roofing membranes to offer customers the highest level of product installation. Only trained, Roof Assured installers can buy and install the Sika RoofPro range of waterproofing roof membranes.
The Sikaplan Roof Pro single ply membrane provides an all-weather seal and is compatible with virtually all commonly used substrates in new build and refurbishment projects, Sikaplan RoofPro has a life expectancy of more than 35 years (BBA Certificate 09/4668), is ETA accredited and comes with 10/15 and 20 year product guarantees.
For this project, the Sikaplan D-15 Roofpro MF Membrane was supplied by roofing stockist, Roof Innovations based in Ipswich.
