Which? Trusted Traders are hardest to find

Study shows roofers particularly hard to find

It was interesting to see the results of a research study carried out by Which? Trusted Traders where they asked a panel of more than 1,000 Which? members about whether they’d needed to hire traders for home or care maintenance over the past year, and how difficult they had been to find.

The research highlighted just how hard it is to find trades people with roofers proving to be particularly difficult.  One in four (25%) of the panels had difficulty finding a roofer.  To some degree this makes sense as repairing or installing a new roof is not a regular occurrence. We are likely to have to have friends, family and neighbours who can recommend a plumber or electrician but a roofing contractor is unlikely to be in our Contacts List.

The survey also highlighted that it’s not the same across the whole country with roofers particularly hard to track down in the East Midlands, South East, Yorkshire and the Humber.  The findings also highlighted a clear link between how urgently we need to find a trader and how difficult it is to find traders at short notice.

Weather and seasons makes a difference with extreme events, flooding subsidence or even crime will affect the availability of traders that are on call to pick up the pieces. For longer terms projects such as self builds and renovations we are often recommended by architects or by word of mouth.

Our find a roofing contractor section on our website will help you locate a Roof Assured by Sarnafil roofer in your area and Which give some useful advice and tips.  See the full article here: https://www.which.co.uk/news/2018/01/which-home-improvement-traders-are-hardest-to-find/
